Abstract

Mobile dam for tidal waters consists of a base (1) which rests on the sea or river bed and supports at least one elongated caisson (12) forming the body of the dam. The caisson is free-standing and has at least two compartments which can be filled with either air or water. Under the pressure of the water, the caisson can take up either one of two positions. In one position the caisson holds the water back, in which case one face (16) of the caisson forms a watertight joint with the surface of the base. In the second position the caisson allows the water to flow, this position being reached through the natural rotation of the caisson from the closed position.
