Abstract

1366680 Floating breakwaters DEBERO KOGYO CO Ltd 11 Nov 1971 [27 Nov 1970 (3)] 52404/71 Heading EIH A floating breakwater for attenuating sea waves comprises a contoured hollow body 1 formed from upper and lower synthetic resin layers 12, 11 secured together around their edges 4 and at the edges 24, 24', 25, 25' of intermediate recessed locations 18, 18', 20, 20', the body being so shaped as to present successively larger portions 8, 8', 8" to an advancing wave. Holes 21, 21', 22, 22' extending through the breakwater are provided at the recesses 18, 18', 20, 20' which together with further unapertured recessed portions e.g. 17, 17', 17", 19, 19', 19" are defined by projecting strips e.g. 13, 13', 13", 14, 14', 14". Water and foamed synthetic resin which form distinct layers within the hollow body are introduced into it through inlet port 28. A number of such bodies may be anchored side by side (Fig. 1 not shown) to form the breakwater. In a modification (Fig. 5 not shown) the breakwater body is provided with a planar upper surface.
