Abstract

The cell has a frame (1) with a perforated base plate (3) and a glass top cover (2) sealed to the frame. Inside the cell is double walled collector plate (6) through which water to be heated circulates and which absorbs the radiation transmitted by the glass (2). On the back of the plate there is attached a cell (8) filled with porous hygroscopic material. The cell has a perforated base through which ambient air can enter and is connected by a passage (11) containing a non-return valve with the sealed space (12) between the collector plate (6) and the glass cover (2). This space is also connected with the surrounding atmosphere by a second non-return valve. This ventilates the space without allowing ingress of moisture.
