Abstract

A lining fabric for e.g. vehicle doors, ceilings etc. comprises a fibre mat impregnated with thermosetting resin and sandwiched between a rigid base and a plastic film. The assembly is compressed to produce lines where the mat is highly compressed and therefore a high density, and between the compressed lines. The surface of the fabric covered with the plastic film forms an undulation. In the compressed lines the mat is totally impregnated with resin whereas between these lines themat is only partially impregnated. The compressed lines of high density hold the shape of the fabric. The fabric is also simpler to produce. Pref. the film is covered with a decorative facing fabric. The mat may be e.g. jute or cotton. The plastic film may be polyethylene or polypropylene. The impregnating resin may be e.g. polyester or epoxy. The rigid base may be e.g. cardboard or kraft paper.
