Abstract

The drive is transmitted from the engine to a toothed wheel attached to a disc, then via conical driving dogs engaged in locations and formed on sleeves sliding in splines on the end of the output drive shafts. The conical dogs are held in the locations by plates mounted on the output shafts and prevented from rotating. Pressure is applied to the plates by balls held in a cage. Each cage can be rotated against a spring by a linkage moving the balls along ramps, and relieving the pressure ensuring engagement of the dogs. The drive to the wheels can thus be individually disengaged.
