Abstract

A heat exchanger for cooling hot gases, produced during the partial combustion of hydrocarbons, is sepd. by a convex partition into a gas inlet chamber and a cooling chamber. Several tubular coils pass from the gas inlet chamber through the cooling chamber. The partition is cooled by a medium passed through its double walls. This partition design is suitable for high temp. and pressures, even for heat exchangers of large dia. The heat exchange is very efficient and recovers the whole heat from the waste gases.
