Abstract

Water is passed thro, an ionizing chamber between an anode and a cathode, the amplitude of electromagnetic waves between these electrodes being controlled so that mineral elements in the water are brought to a potential equal to that of hydrogen and hydroxyl ions, i.e. supply water with a pH of slightly below 7.0 is treated and discharged with a pH of between 8.0 and 10.0. The voltage between anode and cathode is about 3 volts, pref. 2.5-3.0 volts. The process is used for treating water to make it alkalescent, controlling the pH value at a desired level and producing a softened water.
