Abstract

The mattress cover is made by welding two plastic sheets (1, 2) together around their periphery, to make a single double thickness sheet, then at each corner the two thicknesses are pulled apart to the depth required for the mattress, and pinched together, and making a vertical seam weld (4) at each corner, leaving a triangular ear (6) extending from each corner, then the four ears are cut off, externally of the vertical weld. Part of the weld can be slit for inserting the mattress, and the whole reversed to conceal the remaining weld, and a slide fastener can be fit at the slit portion.
