Abstract

Band dryer for continuous veneering consists of a carrier belt (2) and a cover belt (3) between which is a controlled speed difference. The dryer (1) is fed by a feed conveyor belt (4) the speed of which automatically adjusts itself to the rate at which the veneer strip is being drawn into the dryer by the action of the carrier and cover belts so as to take into account the veneer thickness and type of wood. The feed conveyor is driven via a fine control adjustment from the same drive as the carrier belt. Sensing rollers (7, 8) on the conveyor and the veneer strip ensure that both run at the same speed.
