Abstract

Dielectric liquids for insulating electrical apparatus, particularly condensers and transformers, consist wholly or partly of 2-ethyhexyl 2-ethylhexanoate (I). Because of its thermal and chemical stability, its conductivity after ageing is superior to organic esters currently employed. Pref. compositions contain the above cpd. and at least one known dielectric liquid selected from chlorodiphenyls, alkylchlorodiphenyls, trichlorobenzene, alkylated benzenes or diphenyl, particularly contng. >=10 wt.% (I).
