Abstract
The lightning arrestor for catenary high voltage power lines is intended to provide protection against lighting strikes for electrical propulsion systems. The arrestor system consists of a group of dished discs angled in the line of the catenary at 30 deg. to the vertical support rod or rods, the dished surfaces face away from each other on opposite sides of the support. Each such dished group is further supported on its outside by a vertical strut provided with interlocked conical isolators. One of the discs, which have plane surfaces at their point of closet approach, is connected to the electrode screen by a corresponding conductor.
