Abstract

The central part of the joint has at each end, an external screw thread (27), and an internal sealing face (40) tapering radially inwards towards the centre, followed externally by a larger clearance diameter (30). Between the seat and the tube fits a triangular seal, and bearing against this, via a washer, is a pressure ring (44), tapering inwards on the outside diameter and outwards on the internal diameter towards the exterior of the joint. Bearing on the outer periphery of this is a second tapering ring (56) brought into contact by the pressure of a cap (64) screwed onto the external thread of the joint. As the cap is tightened the pressure ring cuts into and holds the tube.
