Abstract

The tubular element (3) which is to be connected to tube (4) has an inclined outer surface portion. A force transmitting member (2) has a correspondingly inclined inner surface. Force is applied by a member (1) which is moved longitudinally. The element (3) is squeezed onto tube (4), gripping it frictionally beneath the contact area of member (2). Element (3) may have an external annulus at its inner end on which a sealing ring (5) is mounted. The ring is lightly compressed between tube (4) and body (6).
