Abstract
A cellulose fired ceramic article is made by distributing in a mass of ceramic material solid bodies contg. or liberating gases on being heated to the temp. at which the ceramic is fired and which undergo a reversible change of stage from solid to fluid during heating, then firing to bring about the change and sinter the ceramic, then cooling. The compsn. of the solid which is to change state is such that it does not change state until the ceramic material which surrounds it is strong enough to resist fracture and fissuring under the effects of the forces which the trapped gases exert on the body.
