Abstract

The electric fuse cartridge has a moulded sand core (2), two metal end caps (3, 4) and a fusible link (1) in the sand core (2). The moulded core (2) is obtained by mixing sand with a binding material to form a hard agglomerate. The metal end caps (3, 4) are slightly recessed in the middle and have a hole to take one end of the fusible link (1). The ends of the link (1) are connected by soldering to the end caps. The fusible link has a restricted portion in the middle of its length to give a calibrated cross section. This type of fuse cartridge provides rigid support to the fusible link and can be easily manufactured.
