Abstract
Coatings are formed by anodic oxidn. on base materials, esp. resistance materials, by using a base material contg., at least in the parts immediately under the surface, (I) a first element selected from Nb, Cr, Mo, W, Ti or V, or a conducting cpd. contg. this element, and (II) a second element, is selected from Si, Al, Ga, Ta, U or Mo, and forms a semiconducting or insulating cpd., by itself or in combination with another element, the second element at least partly reaching the surface of the base material. Gives corrosion resistant, highly insulating coatings. Uniform coating are easily applied without damaging the substrate.
