Abstract
The upper surface of the wing is formed of two laminated panels and rubberised cloth. To this wing are added springs under pressure, located inside the wing and maintaining the rigidity of the rubber skin under conditions of abnormal loading in the "thick" configuration. As the springs run the complete length of the wing they maintain the correct section throughout it's length. A third panel on the upper wing surface is between the forward and the after wing panels, and hinged to them. A method of cooling the upper wing surface during high speed flight is provided by automatically controlled cold air circulation. The leading edge profile can be modified by the inflation or deflation of a sealed bead according to the high or low speed configuration desired.
