Abstract

Roller for an ingot guide track, esp. for billets or blooms produced by continuous castings, consists of a hollow cylindrical barrel rotating on a shaft carried at each of its ends by a support located in a suitable housing. Each end of the shaft is provided with an extension possessing a square cross-section, which corresponds with the recess in which the extension is located in the housing, the extension being eccentric, w.r.t. the axis of the shaft so that the wear of the roll-barrel can be compensated by altering the posn. of the extensions in the recess. The four surfaces of each extension are pref. at different distances from the axis of the shaft. Compensation for roll wear is easy.
