Abstract

A shotgun cartridge (1, 2) houses a wad made of plastics material with a conical portion (S1) facing the rear and forming a chamber between itself and the rear of the cartridge for the explosive charge (4) and another conical portion (S3) facing the front, with a skirt of thinner material extending rearwards, housing the pellets (6). The two conical portions are connected by a central bridging piece (S2), with a weakened portion near the rear cone so that after firing, the rear cone is detached and is forced forwards towards the front cone. The front skirt has longitudinal lines of weakness (S33) around it.
