Abstract
The trochoidal rotor (4) is mounted on a casing consisting of a central portion (6) with end covers (52, 62). The rotor (4) runs on a needle roller bearing (20) mounted on the crankpin (112) of the crankshaft (30) which runs in the ball bearing (24). The rotor (4) has an integrally formed pinion (26) which meshes with an internally toothed wheel (28) which is rigidly attached to the casing. A shaft (110) which is an extension of the piston (26) and co-axial with it, runs in a needle roller bearing (18) which is fitted in an eccentric (14) running in the ball-bearing (22). The eccentric (14) thus forms a counter-balance weight for the rotor (4). This design simplifies the cooling and lubrication of a rotary engine.
