Abstract

A flexible hose (8) connected to the outlet (3) on the standpipe has a rapid opening valve (10) at the connection (9), the other end having a calibrated diaphragm (12) and fitting in a container (5) on the floor (2). The top (6) of the container has air vents (13) and a manometer (11). To check the condition of the reservoir, the stop valve on the outlet is opened fully, the rapid opening valve is then also opened fully. Water flows into the container and the check is made by observing the reading on the manometer. After completing the test, the water in the container drains away at the bottom (14, 15, 16, 17).
