Abstract

A plastics window frame has a fixed frame and an opening frame made of one main hollow section (1) into which hollow metal reinforcements can be inserted and fastened onto ribs (2, 2'). The glass is fixed into the frame between grooves (3). The groove is also used to prevent water seepage because along with another small hollow-section (7), it forms a collecting trough (8). The water is then evacuated through openings (7') in the small section (7) without the necessity for making openings in the main frame. A groove (9) is provided in the main frame so that a standard lock can be fitted. The frame is rigid, cheap to manufacture and can be readily adapted for any type of window or door.
