Abstract

The system utilises an electronic circuit which can estimate the duration of one cycle of ignitiona nd can also fix the time of ignition with reference to the engine cycle so that the circuit of the ignition coil is opened and closed to provide a constant period of coil energisation at the precise phase of the engine cycle. This is achieved by using a condenser which retains a predetermined level of the charge acquired during the previous cycle and is then allowed to discharge at a constant rate by means of an isolating diode, a storage condenser and a transistor associated with a resistance.
