Abstract

Joint for use say in domestic plumbing between a water tank wall and an outlet or inlet pipe (2), is applicable to moulded or metal fittings, uses an axially compressed elastic gasket (8) to effect the seal, and features mechanical means (4a, 5a) of locking the pipe and wall sleeve together without recourse to soldering etc. The wall has a sleeve (4) receiving the pipe and step reduction in dia. (3) of the sleeve adjacent to the wall face, in conjunction with an intermediate pipe flange, produces a recess confining the gasket (8). The pipe and sleeve ends are united and externally rolled over (4a, 5a) by crimping.
