An appts. is claimed for the mfr. of sleeves from a fibre mass, partic. of wood fibres for use as cores for paper rolls, with an extrusion die to shape the pulp feed, with extractors to remove the water at the inlet to the die, through pressure and/or suction. The system allows the use of an extrusion process to shape the sleeves, with satisfactory water extraction from the pulp in the mfg. unit.
