Abstract

Wet fibres are inserted into a heated press where heat and pressure remove the water and compress the fibres into a board. For the evapn. stage, the pressure is reduced to 50% of the max. pressure to be used until there is a residual humidity of 8-10% in the material. The pressure is then slowly decreased while the fibre material is compressed to the required density and thickness, to give a residual humidity of 6-8%. The system reduces the amt. of press time required for the mfr. of fibreboard, and the finished material has a humidity level which eliminates the need for elimination.
