Abstract

Apparatus for adjusting distance between press table and ram (12) comprises a threaded pin (4) which is pivotal attached to the ram end of a connecting rod (2) and which is axially slidable within a nut (6) having a corresponding thread, the nut being mounted on the ram rotatably about its longitudinal axis but not axially slidable. The ram is displaced by a motor and an intermediate gear which acts on the nut, the threaded pin being hydraulically prestressed in the axial direction relative to the nut to prevent play in the thread. Prestressing is carried out by a hydraulic annular piston (9) which acts on the top end of the threaded pin.
