Abstract

The safety brake has a shoe (3) with rectangular base (4) and side pieces (5a) (5b) which are vertical and spaced slightly more than the width of the wheel tyre. There are rollers (7), free to rotate. The shoe is fixed to a sliding piece (9), guided by two rings in a tube (11), welded to a fixing (12), in turn fixed to the chassis so that the tube (11) can swing (in the vertical plane). The tubes (11) are normally winched up by cables (23) to a winch (25) and held. In emergency, the handle (26) releases the cables, the tubes (11) drop and sliding pieces (23) move out, so causing the shoes to go under the wheels.
