Abstract

The mechanism for handling palletised loads rotates them as it transfers them between first and second horizontal conveyors; the units for rotating and lifting the load and locking it in place during rotation are mounted on an arm slewing on a vertical supporting column. The lifting unit has one stationary grab and several slewing grabs, on which the pallet or load unit is placed. The slewing grabs can be actuated by slewing hydraulic rams. The slewing unit can have a horizontal connecting rod coupled to a vertical shaft and slewing in alternate directions in a horizontal plane, with a boss at the outer end sliding in a groove in the slewing arm. The rod slews through a maximum of 270 deg. and the arm through 90 deg.
