Abstract

The D.C. motor pole pieces are in some soft magnetic material reducing demagnetisation effects and lowering the cost of tooling in motor manufacture. The stator (15) section is made up of alternating permanent magnets (17) of a ferrite or aluminium oxide - steel material in approximately parallelepiped form and spaced from each other by pole pieces (18) in some soft magnetic material. These pole pieces are U shaped with the webs (19) providing the thinnest section and facing the rotor. Lips at the rotor and shell face of the pole pieces serve to secure the permanent magnets and the whole assembly respectively tothe motor shell by screwed inserts.
