Abstract

Bottles are delivered into chutes arranged vertically side by side in a row. They fall, bottom first and retained by guides, against a shutter which reciprocates laterally and is operated by a cam. Bottles fall onto a flat plate and the next upper row is maintained in the chutes by the shutter. In this position, the bottles are gripped on their sides by upper and lower endless belts and pass onto a moving conveyor for processing. As the belts move away so does the shutter, another row of bottles drops and the cycle recommences.
