Abstract

A frame has transverse rails (2) for supporting cages and two longitudinal U-sections (6). Two hoppers (9) feeding two lines of cages are mounted on a travelling assembly (8) which runs on wheels along the outer flange (6a) of the section (6). A cable draws the hoppers along the line of cages, being attached to reversible winch controlled by an end of travel switch. The floor of the section (6) has hexagonal holes (14) which correspond with the mangers (4) below them. A thin plate (16) can be moved when fixture bolts are loosened to vary the size of aperture (14), thus controlling the amount of food released to the manger through spouts (18) from the hooper. Pusher plates (19) push loose material to the apertures.
