Abstract

The latch consists of a first part of a rod fixed to the moving frame and a second part pivoting through 90 deg. on it to hold it shut in conjunction with a fixed stop on the stationary frame, and also propping it open in various positions when in line with the first part. The stop is mounted alongside a channel shaped fitting on the stationary frame of section accommodating the longer second part of the rod. The outside of this fitting can have locking devices holding the rod in various position towards the outside, typically in the form of screws or spring loaded plungers, the face of the rod towards the stationary frame being in the form of a rack engaging with a lug on the fitting.
