Abstract

In a gas washer having at least one sieve-plate arrangement through which the gas flows and over which the wash liquor is led, the sieve-plate arrangement comprises two perforated plates lying one on top of other and arranged so that one can be horizontally rotated or linearly displaced relative to the other thereby reducing the open flow area of the perforations. The velocity of the gas through the perforations can be kept constant or held within desired limits whist the gas flow rate varies.
