Abstract

A sleeve (1) fits inside the end of the section of fishing rod (1), locating on an annular rib (3). Above this rib are several bearing pads (5) spaced around the circumference and relieved in between (4). A flat bottomed annular locking groove (7) above the pads forms a second annular rib (10). The end of the sleeve has tapered sides (9) with, inside, relieved pads (P) for holding the next section of rod. The detachable metal collar (6), with the guide ring (12), slides over the sleeve to locate on the first set of pads (5). A plastic locking ring (8) is pushed over the open end to clip into the locking groove (7).
