Abstract

The electrostatic copying process is one in which a latent image is developed by a two component developer. It consists of passing the surface carrying the latent image past a rotatable roller at a distance which is a fraction greater than the diameter of the particles carrying the developer while simultaneously feeding the developer to the gap between the roller and the image-carrying surface. Preferably the roller is electrically conductive and connected to a voltage source to serve as developing electrode. In order to prevent damage of the image-carrying surface by particle agglomeration, the roller is flexible. By this process the developer particles are subjected to strong relative motion so that their contact with the image-carrier can be controllably increased.
