Abstract
The arrangement utilises heat which escapes unused with the hot flue gases during the actual burner operation, as well as during the period when the system is on base load the burner is switched off, but hot gases are still escaping from the hot combustion chamber of the boiler. The jacket next to the flue is water filled which is normal in communication with the water space of the boiler. This jacket is surrounded by a second jacket of refractory material which stores heat. When the system is on base load and the burner is switched off, the damper located at the top of the flue closes hereby preventing hot gases from escaping and the heat stored in the refractory jacket during the burner operation is then transmitted to the water jacket.
