Abstract

In the principal patent, the protection of conduits (1) by armoured rings (2) connected together and resisting compression loads, was described. This addition gives details of a new type of ring which will not become disconnected when the conduit is bent. The rings (2) are provided with shoulder extensions (2a) which overlap the ends (2b) of the next ring and prevent this end from becoming disconnected from the junction piece (5) when the conduit is severely bent. Spacing pieces made from elastomeric material (14) are also proposed to prevent distortion of the ring ends due to the conduit weight when the conduit is mounted vertically. Further modifications proposed for the overall assembly are that the sleeves resisting tension (7, 8), is fitted, should be allowed to slide over that (4) resisting compression, by an intermediate sleeve (15).
