Abstract
Catalyst for the selective redn. of N oxides in gases with NH3 consists of an Al2O3 carrier contg. Cu and alkali, alkaline earth and/or transition metal(s). The catalyst can be prepd. by copptn. or kneading of Al2O3 and alkali, alkaline earth or transition metal oxide(s) or by impregnating Al2O3 with a liquid contg. alkali, alkaline earth or transition metal(s) and then heating; and then introducing Cu and small amt. of noble metal by immersion or impregnation. The catalyst pref. contain 3-10, esp. 5-8 wt. % Cu and either 4-10, esp. 5-7 wt. % Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni and/or Mo or 2-25, esp. 3-22% Mg or 0.2-5, esp. 2-3% Ba or 0.1-1, esp. 0.2-0 5% K or Pr and pref. also 0.005-0.5, esp. 0.02-0.1% Rh, Ru, Pt or Pd. The catalysts are useful in the purificn. of waste gases from combustion plants, chemical factories, automobiles etc. having stable high activity over long periods and wide temp. ranges and resistance to poisoning.
