Abstract

Two sheets of glass which have been bent as a pair, one sheet being on top of the other, and the pair intended for a laminated sheet, are sepd by being located on an inlet conveyor next to an intermediate conveyor with four arms at 90 degrees w.r.t. each other on a rotary shaft; one arm lifts a pair of sheets up to a suction device, which retains the upper sheet while the same arm transfers the lower sheet to an outlet conveyor; the following arm collects the lower sheet from the suction device and lowers it onto the outlet conveyor while the third arm in the sequence lifts the next pair of glass sheets. The conveyors are motorised and the sheets kept in a horizontal position during the sepg. operation. Process is used in Mfr. of laminated of laminated glass, esp. motor-car windscreens where, after two sheets are bent as a pair in furnace, but must be sepd. for washing prior to inserting a thermoplastic foil between the sheets and hot pressure-bonding to make the laminate.
