Abstract

The armchair with an inclinable back of simple construction suited to mass prodn. and comprises tubular steel framed upholstered seat and back elements, the former (2) standing on four corner legs (1, 3) and the latter pivoting (8) about the former against the torque exerted by an extending cantilever acting on a counter spring telescoping rod. Rear legs are inclined (4, 5) serving with frontal plates (7) to support arm rests (6). The back element is upholstered with wood and polyester foam. The telescoping rod extends under and towards the front of the seat from an axle (12) locating beneath the inclination axle (8), and incorporates a diametric lock screw which is actuated by cranked handle (20) from the side of the chair. Stops (24) limit inclination and legs are boxed in.
