Abstract
The economiser is set for slow running conditions and may be automatically adjusted for other engine speeds. It consists of a central venturi (V) which is surrounded by a number of smaller venturi passages (25). These additional venturis not only provide extra air for more complete combustion, but also provide extra turbulence in the main fuel air mixing chamber, thus providing better mixing. The air fuel mixture is introduced tangentially into the venturis. A ball valve floats in the mixture intake passage. The ball valve is backed by a permanent magnet (a). The ball valve is held by the magnet at idling speeds, but is pulled off the magnet, by the higher velocity of the mixture at higher speeds.
