Abstract
The billet is cut off the bar and preformed to give the necessary blank for further operations. This blank is then either cold formed or hot forged in a press to give a shape which is suitable for finish machining. This shape has the eccentric mass (13) forming part of a ring (12) or other body of metal, this being done to improve the flow of the material. Other symmetrical sections (16, 17) are finish formed. The part is finally machined on a lathe to remove the rings (12) leaving the eccentric mass (13) in the required form. This operation reduces the diameter of the part (D1, D2).
