Abstract

The low pressure point from the venturi (6) in the pipe (C) is connected to the receiver (1) by the pipe (4), causing liquid to flow into the receiver through the pipe (2). The required sample is drawn off by depressing the platform (19) which operates the slide valve (34) and then placing a flask on the platform (19). The mouth of the flask is sealed by the plug (31) and provides a means of equalising the pressure in the receiver (1) with the pressure in the hole (32) via the pipe (33). This pressure equalisation allows the valve (29) to open allowing the liquid in the tube (26) to drain into the flask. Surplus liquid is previously drained off through the non-return valve (10).
