Abstract

A small inflatable balloon (3) is mounted in one side of a section of tube (1) fitted in the body passage concerned, and a sealed housing (11) is implanted subcutaneously. The latter contains a rotary control device inflating the balloon via a flexible hose (5) and actuated by an external electromagnetic control acting through the skin (P) when placed near it. Tube and hose can be of silicon or equivalent material, the tube being preferably encased in plastic, while the hose is accommodated, where it joins the tube, in a sealing collar (15) accommodating stitches. The balloon and hose can be filled with a liquid having a low absorption rate for gases such as oxygen and nitrogen.
