Abstract

Mixed hydrate of calcium sulphoaluminate and tobermorite comprising 53-94% 3 CaO.Al2O3.CaSO4.12.H2O and 6-47% xCaO.ySiO2.zH2O where x/y is 0.4-3 and z/y is 0.5-6, 0-7% of the tobermorite being calcium aluminates white Portland cement and a source of calcium sulphate at 10-100 degrees C with vigorous agitation, then drying the suspension to recover the powder. Opt. extra lime may be added to the suspension to adjust the compsn. Useful as a whitner for emulsion paints and paper surfaces.
