Abstract

The instrument is particularly for sealed glass ampoules containing a medicament. It has a hollow section with an opening for the passage of the divisible part, which it simultaneously breaks and retains. It can be in the form of a flattened holder made from a sheet of plastic, with a protruding lip at the opening to aid insertion of the divisible part. The inner lip surface can be fitted with a component scratching the glass, and the holder can have means for retaining the fragments at the bottom. The design avoids the risk of injury, either when breaking the glass or from scattering of fragments produced.
