Abstract

As the bar (5) descends a gripper (10 contacts the top card, and holds it. This operates a microswitch (16) stopping the bar and produces suction through a nozzle (14). At the same time a solenoid (15) attracts a plate (15a) moving the gripper head (10) over towards the solenoid. Fingers underneath the head (10) seize the front edge of the card which curves upwards to meet the suction head. The bar and head, holding the card, then move upwards. A straight groove, with a helical section, machined in the bar contacts a pin in the upper support bearing. This swings the head round 90 deg. and the card is released.
