Abstract

Novel 2,5-dihydroxy-3-pentylphenyl-decan-1l-ol (I), and its ester derivs. - (where D is an org. acid radical e.g. Ac, valeryl, heptanoyl, palmityl), are mfd. by redn. of cpds. formula (II): (where A is H or 1-3C alkyl). The cpds. are remarkable antioxidants for use in the form of soaps, aerosols, creams, lotions etc., to prevent skin ageing.
