Abstract

The buoy consists of a staff with the signalling device fixed to the top and the staff has a taper section and fits in a mating hole in a float. The lower end of the staff has a weight to retain it in the float and counterbalance the weight of the staff top and the signalling device on it. The staff can be telescopic and of reinforced plastic, and the float can be inflatable, or of expanded plastic, with means for securing the folded staff. The signalling device can be a luminous flag. If the float is inflatable it may form a cover for the staff when deflated.
